Hello,

For my mailing lists I prefer to have the address of the mailing list
instead of the original poster. This makes easier contributions for
people not used to mailing list which only use "Reply" instead of Reply
All or Reply List.

I've tried to add Reply-To as custom header with the mailing list.

When sending a mail to the list, I get the original post (fine), hitting
the simple "Reply" button makes thunderbird answering twice:

     To: thelist@thedomain
     Reply-To: thelist@thedomain

Without the Reply-To header, clicking the Reply button makes thunderbird
answering the original poster and not the mailing list address.

It looks like it's the only mail application doing that but I wonder if
I should add more settings or use something else?

What's your thoughts on it?

Regards

Adding List-Id and all List-* headers belong the Reply-To header fixes
the problem!

This doesn't make sense to me. I am a Thunderbird user and I don't recall having
any problem. What do you mean by "answering twice"? Did you change some setting in
Thunderbird as well as change the configuration of the mailing list, perhaps?
Could you have an extension which is causing the problem? Are you just not wanting
to see your own posts, so might be interested in the 'notmetoo' tunable?

Ben

Yeah, my assumptions were wrong, in fact the thunderbird window reply
twice only if I try to answer my own emails.

I have no extensions at all.

See the attached screenshot.

I've verified that I don't see this behaviour, and disabled the
extensions I have which might have been interfering.

Perhaps if you post

- what you have for your customheaders tunable
- what you have for your delheaders tunable
- complete headers of one of your messages arriving at the list (that
   causes the strange reply behaviour)

then I or others can offer suggestions.

However, does it actually matter? If you have Mlmmj configured to add
the Reply-To header anyway, it won't matter if it's already there from
Thunderbird, will it?

Smiles,

Ben
