Subject: LimeOS The New Linux Flavour from THTF
Date: Wed, 13 May 2009 21:07:34 -0700 (PDT) [thread overview]
Message-ID: <23534035.post@talk.nabble.com> (raw)
There's an excellent new Linux Laptop being manufactured now by THTF, and
using Freescale's green MPC5121e mobile GT processor and the new
Linux-based LimeOS operating system.
These guys not only designed their machines with the deliberate intent of
using them for Linux only, but also started the development of their own
flavour of Linux - LimeOS.
If that isn't a good recommendation then I don't know what is!
For anyone wanting to get away from Windows and onto a Linux system, I
believe LimeOS, as used and developed by THTF on their Z9 LimeBook, is the
ideal solution. The GUI makes it so easy to navigate; a child could use it,
not to mention your granny!
THFT have been at the forefront of developing this special flavour of Linux
specifically designed to make it the easiest transition from a Windows-based
environment, into OpenSource and a Linux Space.
Moreover, the hardware is silent due to Freescale's chip, and extremely
power efficient and robust.
What’s more, their machines are extremely cost effective, and really bring
the cost of laptop computing right down.
The bugger is I haven’t found any shops to buy it in yet!
I just found this link this morning to a page with details and contact info:
http://www.tongfangpc.com/indexen.shtml
http://www.tongfangpc.com/indexen.shtml
There’s a load of info on THTF and then about halfway down the page some
stuff on the Z9 LimeBook, some a couple of PDFs, and some external links
which are pretty hot. The LimeOs FAQ’s link is very good, as is the LimeOS
Quick Guide. There’s also a link to LimeOs.Org for developers.
